Friday the 13th.
How profound that it would be Friday the 13th of March when the live entertainment industry was effectively shut down due to COVID-19. It felt like a bad movie. In the months that have followed, the Gillioz has worked diligently to review and revise every process to ensure safety for our guests, both the patrons buying tickets as well as our guest performers that take our historic stage to make memories in comedy, live music and even film.
While every industry you can think of has been touched by COVID, not every industry has been EQUALLY impacted. The live event industry has experienced a 100% loss of revenue. With live venues like the Gillioz being first to close and last to reopen, and with no clear timeline for when we can see those live concerts return, we face major challenges.
The Gillioz has made memories for generations of Ozarkians since 1926. The theatre is an anchor for downtown development, and is a hub for tourism as visitors come from virtually every state and even foreign countries to see the elegant, intimate architecture and the veritable who's who that graces our stage.
The cost of preserving the expansive structure is high. In the best of times the theatre needs support beyond ticket sales. In the current global climate your support is more critical than ever. Thank you!
